Most people would probably tell you to get one off of ebay.

ETS, AMS or Buschur, all are a bit pricey but use the Garret core- I wouldn't mess around with anything that doesn't use a quality core.

Agree with all above. I have the Race FMIC and the reason I went with it was due to not wanting to change it again. I beleive they run about $800-$900, but you may find one used for less. Not sure on the CBRD one, but they make good stuff.

don't forget ETS is good quality too. You can go 4" or 3.5" and never have to upgrade again. They have 3" piping and you can request polished pipes. BR and ETS are both good quality and use the same cores. Just make sure that whatever you buy- you buy the entire kit. Don't get one brand FMIC and then another brand pipes- it's just not wise. The ETS comes as a kit with both lower and upper pipes included... I beleive when I looked at the BR Race- it came with the lower but you had to buy the upper pipes seperate.

ok cuz ya if i got a new IC i was going to go with the whole piping as well. thats why i wanted to see if there was a decent cheepo brand intercooler...but i dont want to go too cheap with it.

Don't mean to bring an old thread back to the top, but what size core should I be looking for with 500-550 awhp as my goal?

In all honesty I'd go with either the BR Race with upper and lower piping kit or the ETS 4.0 kit. Both use the same type of core and are the best quality. AMS is right there with them in quality- no doubt, just a bit more pricey for the same type of IC/kit.

I know the CBRD one is a Garret core with thier end tanks.. Garret has a standard 3.8" Core that can be ordered and I know CBRD, Peakboost, and ETS all offer this as the only FMIC they offer or as one of their options.

If any of you guys can- ask the parts seller or company you are wanting to order from to take pics of the inside of the end tanks so you can see the quality/denseness of the core. If you can, we'd love to see them! We can then add it to our FMIC comparison picture thread.

i think im going to buy one of the TurboXS knock offs from ebay. i really like the TurboXS fmic, ppl make good power with them and theyre not too pricey.
ive tried to use just the generic no name fmics but i couldnt get it to fit/work properly with out the inlet/outlet of the fmic being angled. ive tried two different fmics and no luck. i have used the fmics on other cars before with no problems so i trust the ebay stuff, not all of them but the intercoolers yes.

If you go for the Turbo XS make sure to get some pictures of the core for the "FMIC core comparison" thread. That is a popular option that the thread has no photos of.
